WELCOME
It is an honor to serve Texas Southern University National Alumni Association as the Dallas Chapter President. This chapter has received awards from the National Alumni Association in recognition of its service to spread the word about the excellent opportunity of being a student and then a graduate of Texas Southern University. We know that the education we obtained from this great University made our career choices possible and made us productive citizens in the Dallas area.
This Dallas chapter is committed to the University’s success by attending college fairs to recruit new students and raising money for scholarships. Texas Southern University continues to develop leaders and legends with the alumni in a supporting role. The tie that binds us is the love for Texas Southern University. We are better together, and we are here to celebrate our Alma Mater and to be a helping hand to students who will someday be a proud Texas Southern University graduate. If you are not a part of the alumni association, please join us in taking up this important work. DR. ANTHONY PETERSON

The Heart anD Soul of Texas Southern University
ABOUT TSUNAA DALLAS CHAPTERChartered in the early 1990’s, the members of the Texas Southern University National Alumni Association, Dallas chapter believed that it was the education obtained at Texas Southern University (TSU) that afforded each member the opportunity to be prepared to excel in their respective careers. Understanding the importance of giving back and providing a helping hand, the award-winning Texas Southern University National Alumni Association, Dallas Chapter continues to serve their alma mater by attending college fairs to promote the institution and host an annual scholarship banquet where they award deserving students who attend or will attend TSU scholarships to assist with funding their education as well as serving as mentors to students while at Texas Southern University. The chapter’s signature “Tiger Send Off” is an annual event for incoming and current students. During this time, chapter members meet students and their families, provide words of encouragement, along with a “goodie” bag of TSU gear so students can step on the campus in style. The Dallas chapter is proud to play a part in helping deserving students begin and end their collegiate journey with a degree from their beloved alma mater Texas Southern University.

The Honorable Curtistene Smith McCowan was a resident of Desoto, Texas. She was a history maker in many forms. She first made history in 1990 as the first African American to be elected to a Desoto public office as a member of the DeSoto Independent School District Board of Trustees. She served on the school board for six years, two of those as the board's president.
The Honorable Curtistene McCowan faithfully and dutifully served on the Texas Southern University Board of Regents from October 2007 through February 2009 and during her reappointment in March 2009 through February 2015. As a resident in the surrounding Dallas area, Honorable McCowan could be counted upon to support Dallas chapter events. Whether by attending the scholarship banquet, purchasing an ad or attending a TSU game at the Fair Park, she was there with enthusiasm and a warm smile. The Curtistene McCowan Endowment Scholarship Fund was established to honor Honorable McCowan’s work, support, and dedication to the faculty, staff, and students of Texas Southern University. She was a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated where she served as a past President. She was a faithful member of Kirkwood Temple CME under the leadership of Pastor Jerry Christian. The Honorable Curtistene Smith McCowan was a devoted wife to her husband, Leon and loving mother to their two sons, Danny and Leon. Her presence and her bright, glowing smile will be missed.
